All the Ways Ariana Grande Subtly Paid Tribute to Mac Miller on Grammys Night

Mac Miller was on Ariana Grande's mind last night, and her quickly-deleted tweets about his Grammy loss were not the only sign she gave of it. Grande actually made several nods to her late boyfriend in her Instagrams from the evening.

The first was her dress choice. While Grande didn't attend the Grammys after having issues with the producers, she did post photos of the blue gown Zac Posen made her for the ceremony. It had a deliberate Cinderella look, which may have been done in tribute to Miller. Grande revealed in May last year that Miller wrote his song "Cinderella" about her when she addressed misconceptions about their split on Twitter. (Miller would pass away from an apparent drug overdose in September.)

"How absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them, which btw isn’t the case (just Cinderella is ab me)," she wrote at the time. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability tot keep his shit together is a very major problem. Let’s please stop doing that. Of course I didn’t share about how hard or scary it was."

Both she and Miller were nominated at the Grammys, making the dress a fitting sartorial tribute for their big night.

Grande also shared an Instagram of herself cuddling with Miller's dog that she adopted, Myron. "It’s me your tiny, highly emotional, Italian, and now grammy award winning friend," she captioned it. "I’m super tarnished lol. But super grateful. Thank u for everything. Myron is in my arms n he says hi as well."
