Kanye West took a ‘matching outfits’ photo with Elon Musk — and we have so many questions
Kanye West is famous for his elusive presence online, but this week has been a major exception.
The 43-year-old returned to Twitter for the first time in months to announce a partnership with Gap, the same retailer where West famously worked before ascending to superstardom. Then, he shared a strange, vegetable-themed post about his wife’s net worth.

West’s latest tweet: a star-studded update that has fans asking all kinds of questions.
“When you go to your boys house and you’re both wearing orange,” the “Follow God” rapper wrote in the July 1 post.

Of course, West’s pal in the photo is none other than Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk. It seems as though the two men were hanging out and wanted to capture evidence of their “matching outfits” — with West wearing an orange jacket and Musk wearing a literal orange on his t-shirt.
The image, which has already drawn nearly 750,000 likes, drew a wide range of reactions from fans — including some eagle-eyed users who found a third celebrity in the frame.
“Completely ignoring you both to look at grimes in the window reflection taking this pic,” one commenter wrote.
Sure enough, it turns out pop singer Grimes — who has been dating Musk since 2018 and recently gave birth to their controversially named child — served as the duo’s photographer.

It’s unclear what exactly brought the trio together, but Twitter users immediately posited all kinds of theories. Some suggested there was a Yeezy-Tesla collaboration on the way, while others joked about the prospect of Grimes hanging out with Kim Kardashian (as one commenter noted, that’s actually already happened).
The meet-up comes after a series of major updates in both West and Musk’s lives. In May, the same month Musk’s son, X Æ A-Xii, was born, the 49-year-old also celebrated SpaceX’s landmark astronaut launch — the first of its kind from a commercial space program.
West, meanwhile, followed up his Gap announcement with a new song, “Wash Us In The Blood,” and a trailer for a new animated series starring himself and rapper Kid Cudi.
