We all knew it was coming: the first certified coronavirus series is upon us. Freeform's upcoming Love in the Time of Corona is a quarantine-themed rom-com that will premiere across two nights next month. In the ensemble style of Love, Actually or Valentine's Day (minus the whole holiday aspect), the four-episode limited series explores how we've been spending our homebound months and if we're truly "more connected than ever," as the first trailer suggests.

According to People, Love in the Time of Corona was filmed "using remote technologies and shot in the cast's actual homes" during the pandemic. It co-stars Hamilton's Leslie Odom Jr., Tommy Dorfman, Rainey Qualley, and The Affair's Nicolette Robinson in four separate but connected stories. The first trailer asks, "What are we doing with all this time?" It partially answers that question by showing Zoom dates, pandemic procreation, socially-distant glances through a window, and, yes, a mask or two.

The two-night limited event will tell the stories of James and Sade (Odom and Robinson), a married couple toying with expanding their family; Oscar and Elle (Dorfman and Qualley), friends with different ideas about defining their relationship; a family with a mysterious secret about their college-aged daughter; and a woman (L. Scott Caldwell) who has to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary at a distance from her husband, via People.

Executive produced by Joanna Johnson (Good Trouble), the project was initially announced back in May, as reported by Deadline. “Love is a basic and central need,” Johnson said in a statement to the outlet. “Finding it in the time of Corona may pose unique challenges, but it won’t stop us from forging great love stories, inspiring grand romantic gestures and profound acts of kindness.” Production began in late June and utilized the close proximity of two real-life couples in its casting. Odom Jr. and Robinson are together offscreen, as are Gil Bellows and Rya Kihlstedt, who play roles in the family storyline.

Love in the Time of Corona is one of several COVID-19 influenced projects in development. Orange Is the New Black's Jenji Kohan will bring Netflix's Social Distance to the screen via a virtual production. Plus, Zendaya and John David Washington co-starred as a couple in Malcolm & Marie, a new film secretly shot over two weeks during quarantine.

The two-night limited event will air on Freeform on August 22 and August 23 at 8 PM ET.
