Giddyup! Season 5 of Yellowstone is finally here and returns with two episodes in the season premiere! In the season opener, "One Hundred Years is Nothing," John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is sworn in as governor of Montana. As John settles into the power of his new office, he makes a bold move to protect the Yellowstone Ranch from his opponents.
The series jumps ahead several months from where season 4 ended to post-election day where a reluctant John Dutton has won the Montana gubernatorial election. Monica (Kelsey Asbille) appears to be about 20 months pregnant (see clip below) at this point and beyond ready to give birth while shenanigans continue at the bunkhouse.

In the second episode of the night, "The Sting of Wisdom," John makes a passionate speech to the state of Montana and a new formidable opponent from Market Equities arrives in Montana. The cowboys at the ranch deal with a new problem.

The kids on the show are no longer kids as we remember them. Both Tate (Brecken Merrill) and Carter (Finn Little) had growth spurts between seasons with Little barely recognizable from the chubby-cheeked pre-teen we saw last season.
It'll be hard to beat the intensity and action-packed roller coaster ride we happily endured in the season 4 opener, but the season 5 premiere doesn't disappoint.
