Few things are more fascinating than examining the ways in which wealthy people spend their money, and this Sunday, the History Channel will premiere their newest show, Crazy Rich Ancients, offering an inside scoop on the richest icons of the past. This must-watch series will feature Town & Country’s Executive Style Director Erik Maza, appearing in the episode entitled “Expensive Tastes,” which airs Sunday, July 24 at 10 p.m. eastern. Maza, who oversees T&C’s coverage of fashion, design, and society, offers a compelling perspective rooted in his knowledge of good taste and his experience chronicling society’s elite.

Each half-hour episode of Crazy Rich Ancients will dive deep into the lives of mysterious figures throughout history, following their luxurious and bizarre spending habits. The stories that emerge are fascinating—from Mongolian General Kublai Khan who owned an estimated amount of 5,000 Mastiffs to Catherine the Great, who described her passion for collecting art as almost an addiction.

Crazy Rich Ancients will also journey beyond spending sprees and obsessions, digging deeper into the ways in which these legendary icons influenced culture with their wealth and power.

But in this game of lavish spending, there can only be one winner. So, who takes the cake for one of the highest spenders in history? Well, you’ll have to watch and see. Tune into the first episode of the series, premiering on July 17, at 10 p.m. eastern, and watch every Sunday until the finale on September 4.
