Netflix is due to stream the massively popular The Super Mario Bros. Movie this Christmas.
According to Deadline, Netflix will show The Super Mario Bros. Movie from December 3 in the US. That's this weekend! It comes to Netflix eight months after it was released in cinemas, and four months after an exclusive streaming deal with Peacock.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario and Charlie Day as Luigi, and grossed over $1.36 billion worldwide following its release in April 2023. It was praised on release for capturing the spirit of the game series in a fun animated movie.
The Super Marios Bros. Movie currently has a Metacritic score of 8.3 from users.
Netflix is currently in the midst of updating fans on a whole roster of releases and teasing titles for 2024. Yesterday it gave us a release date for the live-action TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, and revealed a first look at the new Ultraman anime.
It’s also working on a video game adaptation of hit show The Dragon Prince, and has announced that Arcane Season 2 - based on League of Legends - will debut at the end of next year.
Mario has just popped up again in new Nintendo Switch game Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a game that has gone down well with critics and fans alike.
