Four-time World's Strongest Man Brian Shaw is throwing himself into a brand new sport following his retirement earlier this year. Back in October, three months after his victory lap at the Shaw Classic, the GOAT of strength sports announced his new goal: train to become the "Most Dangerous Man on Earth" ahead of a genuine opportunity to fight in mixed martial arts.

"I think this will be a really good way for me to transition out of strongman and not kind of have that fall off or that low," he said at the time. "I'm certainly content and very, very content with my strongman career, but also having a new challenge in front of me, I'm not gonna lie, it's been very exciting."

Shaw has been working with a "great team" of experts in Denver, Colorado over the last couple of months, including respected trainer Vinnie Lopez, retired jiu-jitsu fighter Cody Donovan, and Denver Broncos strength coach Loren Landow. In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Shaw links up with two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir to learn more about what he can expect if and when his first fight comes around.

"He has, I'm sure, probably forgotten more things than I know at this point," says Shaw. "He's an absolute legend in the fight game."

Mir coaches Shaw through several MMA techniques, and Shaw picks many of the moves remarkably quickly—impressively so for a guy of his size. And while he's still hulking even by heavyweight standards in the UFC, weighing in at more than 100 pounds over the heavyweight cap, Mir points out that body type isn't everything. The key, he explains, is in preparation.

"I hate when people are like, 'oh I'll just figure it out,'" says Mir. "You should be in shape, but that isn't the answer. There has to be a way to do things properly, and then being in shape helps. But it shouldn't be the tip of the spear."
