The 2024 awards season continues this weekend with the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards. Celebrating excellence in film and television, the three-hour live show, with host Chelsea Handler, will be broadcast live Sunday, Jan. 14.
This award ceremony, which is known to be a strong predictor of Academy Award nominations, is voted on by more than 600 TV and film critics in the Critics' Choice Association.
In 2024, Barbie was a standout with a record 18 nominations. Poor Things and Oppenheimer each have 13 nods, while Killers of the Flower Moon has 12. On the TV front, The Morning Show leads the pack with six nominations.

Aside from its predictions for Oscars gold, the Critics Choice Awards goes beyond traditional categories with unique honors like the SeeHer Award, which honors a woman who advocates for gender equality, portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes and pushes boundaries. This year, that award will go to Barbie’s America Ferrera. There’s also an award for Best Young Actor/Actress. This year, Harrison Ford will receive the show's Career Achievement Award.
