'The French Dispatch' Release Date Moved to October
The trailer for Wes Anderson's upcoming tenth film, The French Dispatch, is here, and from the looks of it, this movie might be his most star-studded, Wes Anderson-y project yet. The film follows several stories surrounding the publication of the final issue of the French edition of an American magazine (reportedly inspired by The New Yorker). The movie is set to hit theaters on October 16, moved from its original July 24 release date as the coronavirus pandemic impacts theater chains globally.
The French Dispatch is Anderson's first movie since 2018's Isle of Dogs and his first live-action release since 2014's The Grand Budapest Hotel. It features Anderson favorites including Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Owen Wilson, and Bill Murray alongside stars (and Anderson newcomers) like Benicio del Toro, Elisabeth Moss, Jeffrey Wright, and Timothée Chalamet, who reunites with his Little Women and Lady Bird co-star Saoirse Ronan.
Searchlight Pictures' official synopsis for the movie, per IndieWire, reads: “The film is a love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th Century French city, and brings to life a collection of stories published in ‘The French Dispatch’ magazine.”
In addition to Anderson's typical lush color palettes and quirky props, the film also features a even more starry cast members, including Jason Schwartzman, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Bob Balaban, Lea Seydoux, Liev Schreiber, Christoph Waltz, Tony Revelori, Rupert Friend, Lois Smith, Henry Winkler and Anjelica Huston. Chances are, if you like an actor, they've worked on The French Dispatch.
