Watch the New Star-Studded Cats Trailer

It stars Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, and many more.

The first trailer for the star-studded Cats, releasing in theaters December 20, has arrived. Based on a book of poems by T.S. Eliot (which eventually turned into a Tony Award–winning musical on Broadway composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber), the new film adaptation is directed by Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper (Les Misérables, The King’s Speech) and features celebrity felines including Taylor Swift, James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Rebel Wilson, and more.

In the new teaser Hudson delivers a new rendition of “Memory,” one of the musical’s signature hits. The cats are seen hanging in and around the latest hot spot, Milk Bar. The major notable difference from the Broadway play, however? The actors aren’t dressed as cats like the theater version; thanks to motion-capture technology, the actors are digitally transformed into cats, “digital fur” and all. (The result makes for characters that are half adorable, half freaky.)
