2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a kaleidoscopic, multiverse-spanning adventure that threw multiple incarnations of Spidey together, and was so well-received by critics and fans alike that it shot to the top of many Spider-Man movie rankings, over Sam Raimi's original trilogy with Tobey Maguire as well as the Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland versions of the iconic superhero.

One of the many things that made Spider-Verse such a hit was the fact that it finally brought a fan-favorite version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), to the big screen. And while a live-action Miles Morales project has recently been announced by Sony, even more hotly anticipated is the long-awaited animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Set one year after the events of the first Spider-Verse, this movie sees Miles reuniting with his love interest Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) for another adventure spanning multiple timelines, as they endeavor to save all Spider-Men, Spider-Women, and Spider-Pigs from an insidious new threat.

A number of characters return in Across the Spider-Verse, most notably Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Vélez as Miles' parents Jefferson and Rio, and Mahershala Ali as Uncle Aaron.

But as with any good sequel, this movie also expands its scope and introduces a whole new Spider-cast, including Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara, a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman, Karan Soni as Pavitr Pravakhar, a.k.a. Spider-Man India, and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk.
