The Ram TRX can do a lot of things, but based on this new video from Brendan Schaub, donuts in the desert might not be one of them. Only seconds after attempting a donut, the truck flips over and the driver is forced to climb out of his now-ruined ride.

The Ram TRX is powered by a supercharged Hemi making 702 horsepower. It rides on big 35-inch tires and utilizes an advanced Bilstein Black Hawk e2 Shock System. This particular TRX has been modified with King Shocks, Alcon brakes, and a tune. All this gear makes the TRX an impressive off-road performer. What this gear doesn’t do is make the TRX a drift car. A high-riding truck with big tires is not the best choice for attempting donuts. This driver learned that the hard way.

The TRX was driven to Johnson Valley, California to be pushed to and ultimately over its limits. The soft sand out there increases the risk of a rollover as the tires can easily dig in and flip the truck over. Schaub had some fun with his newly modified TRX out in the desert. And then he decided to attempt some donuts so he could get some cool video of his truck.

"We are out here, why not?" Schaub said. "What's the worst that can happen?"

It doesn’t take long for him to find out what can happen. At about the five-second mark of the video, you can hear the supercharger whine as he applies power and begins to turn the truck sharply. At the seven-second mark, he is smacked in the head by the side curtain airbag. At the nine-second mark, he and his truck are upside down.

Thankfully, Schaub suffered only a concussion and a banged-up arm. He was able to quickly climb out of his truck. Sadly, the truck did not fare so well. It was totaled.

To add insult to injury, the automatic SOS call failed. In the video, you can hear that the system detected the airbag deployment and initiated the call. A few seconds later, you can hear the system saying, “SOS call not successful.”

Driving a TRX is fun. Doing donuts in the desert is fun. But combining the two does not seem to be much fun at all. Schaub experienced a thrill for about three seconds and now is dealing with the insurance claim process and a totaled TRX.
