Watch: Owner Shows off His ‘Scary’ Dog He Got for Protection and It’s Hilarious

Certain dog breeds, such as Rottweilers, Dobermans, or German Shepherds, are known to be used as guard dogs and take their duty seriously. Other breeds, such as the American Pit Bull Terrier, are not so much.

The owners of Toots + MayMay know what it means to have a pit bull, who's a rescue and named Maybelline, and shared in their video, posted on September 10, how much of a guard dog she really is. Let's check it out!

This is hilarious!

She seems to think she's a cat. Clearly, she spent way too much time with her cat brother, Brody.

This reminds me of my cat Max, who thinks he's a dog and loves to sleep in my dog's bed all the time.

Pets are too funny.

This video is obviously for pure entertainment, as pit bulls could make great guard dogs; however, this depends on various factors, including the individual dog's temperament, training, and socialization.

Pit bulls are often very loyal to their families, and this loyalty can translate into a protective instinct. They may be naturally inclined to protect their owners if they sense a threat.

That being said, I have no doubt that Maybelline would make any noise if she encountered a stranger, such as a burglar, entering the premises.

Plus, the mere presence of a pit bull can act as a deterrent to potential intruders due to their strong and muscular appearance. Also, pit bulls are known for their courage and determination, which can make them more willing to confront a threat.

I would think twice about entering a house if I'd see a pit bull.

However, proper training and socialization matter as well, so pit bulls, like any breed, learn from an early age to distinguish between genuine threats and non-threatening situations. Without socialization, they may be overly aggressive or fearful.

Additionally, effective training is essential to harness a pit bull's protective instincts and ensure they respond appropriately to commands, as improper training can lead to aggression or unpredictable behavior.

Maybelline reminds me of my pittie, who's a sweetheart, but I know that in a situation of threat, he would protect me, and I am sure Maybelline would do the same for her owners.
