Watch: Who Needs a Center Fin, Anyway?

Twin Fins are making a big comeback.

Not that they ever went anywhere. It's just that, since the invention of the thruster in the '80's, the twin fin has been relegated to small surf, soft points, and the "alternative" surfboard community.

William Aliotti is helping change that perception.

Recently, Aliotti flew to Kandui Resort in Indonesia with 8 surfboards built by 4 world class shapers. All of them Twin Fins. He then proceeded to ride them in every sort of surf the Mentawais could throw his way, from the the pumping to the playful, and the results might just leave you with a newfound interest in an old design.

Ready to try one for yourself? The 8 surfboards are as follows:

Pyzel Surfboards "Happy Twin": 5'5 x 19.5 x 2.4 x 27.3L

Channel Islands Surfboards "Twin Pin": 5'6 x 19 1/2 x 2.4 x 27.7
