You Can Watch (Most Of) The Granblue Anime For Free On YouTube Now

You can watch almost the entire first season of the Granblue anime for free on Cygames' YouTube channel in the lead-up to Granblue Fantasy Relink. Cygames is running the promotion through Feb. 1, 2024, when Relink launches on PS5, PS4, and PC via Steam, and if you’re new to the series, it’s probably a good idea to at least skim a few episodes.

Relink is a retelling of the original Granblue story, which follows a young adventurer on a journey to save the world – and the mysterious girl Lyria, who descended from the sky and finds herself hunted by the Erste Empire. That tale unfolded across a decade in the live-service anime game, which never officially launched outside Japan, so it’s not the easiest to catch up on now.

The Granblue anime covers pretty much all of it, though, at least the important parts. Cygames’ English channel includes Japanese voices with English subtitles, but no English voices. Make sure you turn captions on if you don’t understand spoken Japanese.

The first seven episodes are free on YouTube. If you want to see the remaining five episodes and the second season, you’ll have to migrate to Crunchyroll and watch them there. It's not one of the many free Crunchyroll anime, but the site does have a one-week free trial – as does Crunchyroll via Prime Video – so if you’re very keen, you could sign up for the trial, speed through both seasons, and end the trial without having to pay a subscription fee.

Meanwhile, Cygames announced a meaty Granblue Fantasy Relink demo for PS5 and PS4 available beginning Jan. 12, 2024. If you want even more Granblue, consider checking out 2023's Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, yet another retelling of the Granblue saga, but wrapped up in a fighting game - and a darn good one at that.
