The comedian even fooled viewers.

As Saturday Night Live aired on April Fools' Day, "Weekend Update," co-host Michael Che took the opportunity to pull off a prank on unsuspecting co-star Colin Jost.

The segment kicked off as usual, as the two anchors joked about the week's biggest news. Jost, 40, began the fun by sharing a jab at former president Donald Trump and his Mar. 30 grand jury indictment.

Despite Jost's originality, the audience barely reacted to his antics. But it's a whole different story once Che, 39, takes over.

After Che delivered his own series of quips, the live studio audience broke out with roaring laughter.

Clearly disappointed his jokes didn't quite land after his co-host wrapped up, Jost decided to give it another go. Following the delivery of another punchline mocking Trump and his supporters, an audience member shouted, “You stink!”

As Jost rests his head in his hands, confused and surely feeling a bit defeated, Che can longer continue his front (or the joke), erupting in pure laughter before attempting to explain to Jost that he just got pranked.

"I told them not to laugh at you," Che admits between chuckles.

As the two enjoy a laugh, Jost–who is nearly in tears by this point–explained what was going on in his head during Che's April Fools' Day prank. "Am I not mic’d?" Jost said, "And then I was like, ‘Oh, I just suck.'"

The joke took a considerable amount of energy for Jost to digest, as even after the skit wrapped, he was heard telling his co-star, "God, you’re evil."

"That’s the meanest thing you’ve ever done to me," Jost continued. "I’m covered in sweat."

And as the audience went to applaud the comedian for his out-of-the-box April Fools' Day set-up, Jost quickly dismissed the riled-up crowd, "Don’t you even dare," he joked.

The comedian even fooled viewers, who took to social media to express their appreciation for Che's flawless execution.

"Love a good April Fool’s joke and their end of year joke trade," one fan gushed.

"Poor Colin this tricked me too," another admitted.

And as a few other Twitter users pointed out, there certainly will be "payback," and when Jost gets his revenge, we look forward to sharing it with you.
