Watch Mason Ho, Chris Ward and John Robertson in Extended Cut from ‘5’5″ X 19 1/4…Century’

Last year, …Lost put out 5’5 x 19 ¼…Century, an ode to the classic surf film that launched the Round Nose Fish and in many ways ushered in a resurgence of the shape. Now, thanks to Mason Ho, we get a longer look at a memorable sequence from the series.

The original board (and movie) came out of a simple request Chris Ward made to Matt Biolos: “Make me a fish! Like Tom Curren!” From there, Biolos went to classic boards for inspiration and came back with a shape that turned out to be undeniable. So many clips started to stack up of Ward and others tearing it up on the the diminutive boards that it became the basis for a full-length movie. Twenty-five years later, with the release of the Round Nose Fish ’96, history repeated itself, and the …Lost crew decided to once again celebrate the shape on celluloid.

That’s where Mason comes in. For one sequence in …Century, Ho met up with Ward and John Robertson in their old stomping grounds. The kindred spirits bonded over their shared love of the search and of course stacked a few more awesome clips.

On Mason’s YouTube channel, he just posted a throwback to the experience, complete with extended footage of the crew surfing, celebrating, and rescuing at least one stranded motorist. It’s good to be back.
