When someone mentions Nazaré, what comes to mind?

Garrett McNamara in HBO's "100 Foot Wave"? Kai Lenny doing full rotation airs down the face of an 80-foot teepee? Lucas Chumbo backdooring a 60-foot tube?

While Nazaré is notorious in the big wave arena, (and thanks to HBO's show it might just be the most famous wave in surfing), it also has a more playful side.

In the raw edit above, from filmer Peyton Willard, we get a glimpse of Nazaré on a much more approachable day. 6-foot teepees, rather than 60. Dreamy tubes, rather than death defying ones. All paddle, no ski.

While it's much smaller than the Nazaré you might be used to seeing, it still packs a solid punch. Lurching and wedging out of a deepwater canyon, these waves unload on a shallow sandbar with more power than your average beachbreak. Similar to Puerto Escondido in Mex or Blacks Beach in San Diego, getting caught inside by a 6-foot wave at Nazaré is enough to terrify most surfers.

Can you even imagine what it's like surfing it 10x that size?

No, thanks.
