Watch Katharine McPhee Foster Crush A Mega-Strong Kettlebell Workout On IG
  • Katharine McPhee Foster is no stranger to a super intense workout sesh.

  • The singer and actress, 38, reposted her trainer's Instagram Story, which showed Kat obliterating a kettlebell workout while goofing around and having fun.

  • Katharine's trainers have called her a "competitive athlete" when it comes to her mindset towards big workouts.

When you have a serious win at the gym, you want to celebrate it. Case in point: Katharine McPhee Foster, completely crushing a kettlebell workout.

Kat re-shared an Instagram Story video from her trainer's Instagram that showed her doing squats and hip thrusts while clutching two massive kettlebells. “Really impressed by @katharinefoster lifting these HEAVY kbs!” her trainer wrote. So, Kat, being the jokester she is, captioned the re-post “heavy balls," adding, “I’m so immature.” I mean, it was low-hanging fruit.

In the video, the 38-year-old is super strong as she does her squats in second-skin workout gear. Cut on over to the next video on her IG Story, which shows Kat goofing off and dancing in the background as her friend Elsa Collins does one-legged squats with a resistance band. “Find yourself a workout buddy who can play hard and work hard,” she wrote over top.

Kettlebells can be used for all kinds of workouts, like swings, single-leg Romanian deadlifts, Turkish get-ups, and squats, which Kat is tackling here. The move targets her glutes and quads, but can also help tone the arms, back, and shoulders, too.

To get so strong, Kat puts in serious work at the gym. Her trainer, Oscar Smith, told Life & Style that she’s a “competitive athlete” and “does not quit” when it comes to her workouts. Kat cycles through a slew of exercises during her gym time. “For upper body, we would focus on a specific body part, then start off what I call ‘the Triangle,'” Smith said. That can mean doing assisted pull-ups, chin-ups, reverse-grip pull-ups, close grip pull-ups, wide grip pull-ups, dips, and various forms of push-ups.

And to mix in a little more cardio, Kat will do jump rope, box jumps, sprints, and stair runs.

Kat, who has a struggled with disordered eating in the past, originally shared that she had a hard time adjusting to her changing body while pregnant with her son Rennie (who was born in February 2021). But Kat told E! News that she felt “zero pressure” to “get back to a certain standard” after having her son.

"I'm so much happier, so much more peaceful," she said. "And actually, the extra weight that I gained while I was pregnant has just sort of fallen off naturally."

And on the food front, Kat has made it clear she’s not into dieting. "I’ve struggled with weight my whole 20s and 30. I’ve gone up and down 10 times over," she captioned an Instagram post in December 2021.

"I lost this baby weight without dieting. Zero. Diets are the worst and I’ve had zero pressure from anyone. I’ve let me body do its thing and found a great workout. That’s it. And guess what? I’ll probably gain weight again at some point too. Who cares?"

Kat echoed that sentiment in an interview with Yahoo Life when giving advice to her younger self. "What I would have said to myself is 'Don't go on that diet.' Because that's really what set me up for years and years of some bad behaviors," she said. "The goal is to have peace and happiness throughout."

Love it, Kat! YGG.
