Leave it to Julianna Margulies to fill the Miranda Priestly/Wilhelmina Slater-shaped hole in contemporary pop culture's heart. In her role as magazine editor Kitty Montgomery on the addictive new series Dietland, Margulies follows the grand tradition of horrible fashion bosses who've come before her, sending assistants skittering with a withering glance and spewing veiled insults at anyone who doesn't conform to her ideal physical standards.

In contrast to her vicious employer, the series' protagonist Plum Kettle (Joy Nash) is an aspiring writer who wastes her days drowning in self-doubt, working as Kitty's ghostwriter and answering desperate letters from magazine readers seeking advice. But as Plum prepares to make a major change in her life-undergoing weight-loss surgery-a radical group going by the name "Jennifer" begins abducting and murdering serial abusers of women. As the world grapples with the fallout of Jennifer's grisly spree, Kitty sees her opportunity to cash in.

In a clip from next week's episode exclusive to BAZAAR.com, Kitty marches into her boss's office to inform him she's running Jennifer's manifesto on the covers of every women's magazine at the company. Of course, this isn't because she believes in the radical's message: "This is a billion-dollar opportunity-this is Apple stock in 1980," she tells her publisher. It's corporate feminism at its finest.

In an interview with Seth Meyers earlier this week, Margulies inadvertently compared her character to President Donald Trump. "She's a narcissist-I mean, no one's as bad as Trump-but like Trump, she has no moral center. She just wants to win. Unlike Trump, she's incredibly smart... She has no empathy." This should play out spectacularly in episodes to come.

The eerily-timed series is based on a 2015 book by Sarai Walker and executive-produced by Marti Noxon. Dietland airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
