Watch Joseph Baena Get a Serious Pump With a Classic Bodybuilding Move

From Men's Health

You just can't keep Joseph Baena out of the gym. Which makes sense, given how much he takes after his dad, bodybuilder-turned-action movie legend Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Already a huge (as in swole) lover of fitness, the 22-year-old bodybuilder has spent his time in quarantine getting into even better shape, working out in his home gym, showing off his gains on social media, and perfecting his recreations of some of his father's most iconic physique poses.

And while his beloved Gold's Gym in Venice might have reopened, Baena couldn't resist the opportunity to do some training outside on Saturday. It's safer of course, as it's easier to maintain social distancing outdoors, but Baena mostly wanted to catch some rays.

"Nothing like the good ol tan-pump combo," he wrote in the caption of his latest workout video on Instagram, where he can be seen performing several reps of a barbell row.

"Baena is doing an upright row, a classic bodybuilding move that’s meant to target the shoulders, and, in particular the rear delt," says Men's Health fitness director Ebenezer Samuel C.S.C.S. "It's a move that plenty of guys do, but it's not usually the best option for the general public."

"When elbow height exceeds shoulder height, that can be a compromising position for shoulder tendons, so be cautious of this," he continues. "If you do upright rows, think of squeezing your shoulder blades, and don’t pull too high. Or, better yet, ditch the barbell for dumbbells, which allow for more freedom of motion. But overall, remember that you have a wealth of moves to hit your rear delts, and this, very often, isn’t your best option."
