Kona winds, a.k.a devil winds on Oahu's North Shore, are the opposite of the trades: They blow sideonshore into the rights, sending massive sideways chops up the face, and mostly wrecking the waves.

Unless you're John Florence.

The other day, Florence paddled out and immediately turned lemons into lemonade.

First wave? Massive alley-oop. The next? Big ole' straighty. After a few more oops, Florence sizes up a meaty ramp and stomps a lofty flip, putting an exclamation point on a wildly impressive session.

"Maybe the wind is always good?", ponders Florence in the caption.

The comment section below his post reads like a who's who of surf, with everyone throwing praise.

"On fire !! Light as a feather," writes Shane Dorian.

"I watched these. Made me paddle out. So sick," says Rasta Robbie McCormick

"O ya… I’ll allow that..," adds Jordy Smith.

It goes on and on, and the point is these 5 airs could all be the ender of a Kai Neville film, and they happened during one session in kona wind junk.
