Promoting her new film Memory at the 80th Venice Film Festival, Jessica Chastain spoke out against the AMPTP in the fight for fair compensation and AI protections, which have led to historic strikes across Hollywood.

"I was incredibly nervous to be here...there were people on my team who advised me against it", she began before explaining, "We are often told and reminded how grateful we should be," and went on to say, "That is the environment that I think has allowed workplace abuse to go unchecked for many decades".

She also praised independent producers, including Eréndira Núñez Larios and the writer/director of Memory, Michel Franco.

Memory received an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA due to the fact it is an independent production and meets all the requirements that SAG-AFTRA is fighting for. "They are letting the world know, letting the AMPTP know that actors deserve fair compensation, AI protection should be implemented, and there should be sharing of streaming revenue," Chastain said.

She closed her statement by saying, "I hope that being here today encourages other independent producers and encourages actors to show up and support our union members, and hopefully we will see an end to this strike soon, and hopefully the AMPTP will go back to the table".
