Bad news for hot sauce lovers: Huy Fong Foods just reported a new shortage of their popular Sriracha ahead of the summer.

That means that for those who are fans of spice (ahem, Ree Drummond!), you might want to stock up on the classic green-capped bottle. The condiment has been named one of the most popular hot sauces in the United States thanks to its unique garlicky, spicy flavor. And it’s known for being used in various dishes, like Ree’s veggie stir fry, spicy salmon rice bowls, or even mixed into mayonnaise as a topping for burgers and hot dogs. But Sriracha will soon start dwindling from shelves at most grocery stores.

The Sriracha shortage comes after production was forced to come to a halt due to problems with their red jalapeño peppers—the main ingredient in the spicy sauce.

“After reevaluating our supply of chili, we have determined that it is too green to proceed with production as it is affecting the color of the product,” the company said in a letter, according to USA Today.

This isn’t the first time that Huy Fong Foods was faced with a hot sauce shortage. Last year, the company had similar issues with chili peppers not being ripe enough to use. This year, Huy Fong Foods' chili garlic sauce and Sambal Oelek will also be affected.

“We regret to inform you that we have decided to halt production until after Labor Day, when our next chili season starts,” they said.

Though this might wreak havoc on your plans for a spicy summer, there are other options for bringing the heat during the impending Sriracha shortage. Just look at our list of top hot sauce brands that are perfect for an equally spicy experience.
