  • The Holderness family posted a new video about wearing face masks to their YouTube page.

  • The video is a parody of the musical Hamilton, which will soon debut on Disney+.

  • The lyrics poke fun at the current debate over masks, and the video ends with a PSA urging people to wear face coverings.

When you want to watch something that will make you LOL, you can head on over to the Holderness family’s YouTube page. The family, which includes married couple Penn and Kim, along with their kids Lola and Penn Charles, regularly rolls out hilarious parody videos about what’s going on in the world and with parenting—and their latest is pretty freaking epic.

It’s a Hamilton parody, timed nicely with the fact that the Hamilton movie comes out on Disney+ on Friday (squee!), and it totally makes fun of the debate about wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It's already racked up more than 140,000 views in a day, all set to the music of the uber-popular Broadway play Hamilton, of course. Songs like "Aaron Burr, Sir," "My Shot," and "You'll Be Back” all get the Holderness treatment.

Sample lyrics, sung by Penn: “Pardon me. Do you have germs, sir? No I don’t. And that’s my business, not yours, sir. I have my rights and have my freedom.” And “Why do you do it? Why do you always wear a mask? Because I don’t want the corona to get passed.”

Another nugget: “I am not throwing away this mask. This really should be bipartisan. Come on, now. How hard is it? We thought that the curve was flattening, but now it isn’t. And it’s getting really saddening.”

Some other fun tidbits include lines like, “Florida is really scaring me” and “Cases rise. That’s getting tall. I need school to open in the fall.”

At the end of the mash-up, Penn cracks up, and same.

Kim comes on the video at the end and talks about the importance of wearing a mask in public. “We’re doing something for other people,” she stresses. “This doesn’t have to be an argument,” Penn says. “Just do it.” The couple also acknowledge that this is a hot-button topic, saying that they “can’t wait” to read the comments.

As predicted the comments are pretty awesome. “I’m so glad that I live in Japan, where no one is against masks but are worried about 22 new cases in Tokyo today,” one wrote. “Penn for President, or King, or Head Person in Charge, or something!” another said. “A FB friend shared this: "You know what's really uncomfortable? Pants. But I still wear them in public. Not for me, for others. #WearTheDamnMask" And there are days when I have to agree,” someone else wrote.
