BODYBUILDER AND FITNESS influencer Will Tennyson has worked out with some of the world's most accomplished strength athletes, including reigning World's Strongest Man winner Mitchell Hooper and powerlifting icon CT Fletcher. In a new video, Tennyson spends the day training with five-time CrossFit Games champion and holder of the "Fittest Man on Earth" title, Mat Fraser, and attempts to keep up with him in his workout.

"I could walk into just about any powerlifting gym and get out-squatted," says Fraser. "I can go to most collegiate track meets and I'm gonna get beat." What makes CrossFitters unique as athletes, he explains, is their ability to encompass skill sets across those disciplines—in rapid succession.

Fraser retired from competing a few years ago and has switched up his training to be slightly less performance-focused and more geared towards overall fitness, but he still goes hard in the gym—as Tennyson soon learns as he hits the rowing machine, clean and jerks, back squats, and front squats. But before all that, Fraser explains just how important a proper warmup has become in his routine.

"As age clicked up higher and higher, [warmup] became a little bit more important," he says. "I started hitting late twenties... shit's a little bit crunchier than it used to be."

With the first full-on session over and "a lot to learn about these exercises" still, Tennyson and Fraser fuel up with lunch ahead of the second workout—and Fraser reveals he would eat up to 9,000 calories per day at the peak of his CrossFit Games training. "It was disgusting," he says. "It's fun for like the first week. I gained 33 pounds in one month."

The second session of the day is no less intense, switching focus to skill work with handstands and grueling, fat-burning exercises including sand bag cleans, burpees, wall balls, and bursts on the assault bike—after which a visibly exhausted and queasy Tennyson has to head outside for some fresh air, before he rallies enough to join Fraser for a recovery session in the sauna.
