The first trailer for Wes Anderson's next movie, Asteroid City, has officially arrived — and it's Andersonian at its finest.

Situated in a fictional American town in the '50s, the film follows an insular widow (Jason Schwartzman), who drives his four children across the country to visit their grandfather (Tom Hanks). On the way, his car breaks down in Asteroid City, where Schwartzman's character's bookworm son, Woodrow (Jake Ryan), becomes infatuated with an ongoing Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention "organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition."

The trailer highlights how the family becomes unexpectedly tied up in the town, where strange things continue to occur. Random earthquakes rattle the area; some locals begin to question whether there is an alien among them, and sightings of famous people, including Scarlett Johansson, shake the town with excitement.

"Some of our information about outer space may no longer be completely accurate," a teacher says to her class. "Anyway, there's still only nine planets in the solar system, as far as we know," she says before calling on a student named Billy. "Except that now there's an alien," he bluntly responds.

The film also stars Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rubert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carrell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Jake Ryan, Tony Revolori and Jeff Goldblum. Roman Coppola co-wrote the story with Anderson.

Asteroid City is slated to premiere in theaters on June 16. Watch the first official trailer above.
