This summer, take a trip to Italy without ever leaving your living room. PBS's newest series, Hotel Portofino, promises a glamorous drama set on the Italian Riviera during the 1920s.

The show follows Bella and Cecil Ainsworth (played by Natascha McElhone and Mark Umbers), who have moved from the UK to the Italian coast to open a hotel for wealthy English travelers. As evidenced in the exclusive trailer above, the scenery in Hotel Portofino is stunning, but the story promises to be about more than just gorgeous vistas, Brits on holiday, and period costumes; it also reckons with the the aftermath of World War I and the rise of fascism in Benito Mussolini's Italy.

In addition to McElhone and Umbers, Anna Chancellor, Pasquale Esposito, Oliver Dench, Assad Zaman, Adam James, Imogen King, Elizabeth Carling, Olivia Morris, and Lily Frazer round out the cast for the six-episode first season. (The show has already been commissioned for a season two.)

“Filled with mystery, intrigue and romance, Hotel Portofino is a perfect entree into this summer season, allowing viewers to be swept away into an opulent summer vacation on the Italian Riviera,” says Andrea Downing, President of PBS Distribution. Sign us up.

Hotel Portofino premieres Sunday, June 19, at 8 p.m. ET on PBS. Episodes of the show will also drop simultaneously on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel. Watch an exclusive first look at the trailer above.
