Every season there's a new fashion print that dominates the runway (and our closets). We're living in the middle of an animal pattern renaissance. (That look isn't going anywhere anytime soon, either: A new report from Pinterest suggests that "snake prints," specifically, will be a big thing in 2019.) They may be having their moment in the spotlight right now, with celebrities like Ashley Graham to Tracee Ellis Ross on board, but it wasn't always that way. In fact, over the last century, we've seen each decade defined by a different print, from geometric prints and psychedelic paisleys to grunge plaid. For a closer look at how these trends have evolved over the last 100 years—and a hint at where they may go next—check out the video above. Fashion is cyclical, so you may see some of these prints again soon.
