The odds are in favor of artists on 'The Voice' who get a four-chair turn.

Yes, it’s possible for an artist to win The Voice with just a one-chair turn. Jake Hoot did it on Season 17 when Kelly Clarkson was the only one who turned for him, and Chris Blue did it in Season 12 when Alicia Keys was the sole coach to turn for him, but this is where there needs to be an asterisk on the play. By the time that Chris had his Blind Audition, Alicia was the only coach who had a spot on her team. If that hadn’t been the case, who knows how many of the other coaches would have turned?

The point of the story is that being a four-chair turn is a big deal and it comes with big rewards. To date, 10 of the winning Voice artists have been four-chair turns, which puts it at just under 50 percent. It's why they make a big deal of it when it happens.

Neil Salsich, 34

St. Louis, Mo.
"Honky Tonk Blues" by Hank Williams
“That was a Hank Williams Sr. song,” Blake Shelton told him. “I hear you doing a yodel thing and it was incredible. I would be honored for you to be on the last Team Blake.

Neil chose Team Blake.

Noivas, 30

Hutto, Texas
“A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cook

“You are an incomparable talent,” Chance the Rapper said. “I would love to give you the platform to show yourself to the world. I think you’re a voice of this generation. It deserves to be heard. To be honest, I blocked Blake.”

Novias chose Team Chance.

Ryley Tate Wilson, 15

Montgomery, Ala.,
“Dancing on My Own” by Robyn

“Ryley, my head nearly exploded,” Niall Horan told him. “That was the best audition we’ve seen here by a long shot. I remember what I was like at 15 auditioning for a show like this. I was shaking like a leaf, and I could hear no sense of nerves. It’s so nice to hear a 15-year-old have that confidence in his ability. It felt as if I were to get you to sing that song again, you wouldn’t sing it the same way twice and that is an amazing way to keep people on their toes.”

Ryley chose Team Niall.

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
