Here’s the scoop. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—uses a curette to scoop out the contents of a blackhead like grotesque ice cream. This video will certainly ruin your favorite frozen treat forever.

In the clip, Dr. Lee starts by squeezing the skin concern, popping out some chunky white contents. The blackhead appears to be a blueish hue under the skin, which Dr. Lee says is due to the oxidation of the material inside.

“There’s a little sac around it, and that’s what I have to try and get out or it could come back,” Dr. Lee tells the patient. Though sacs are often associated with cysts, they can form around large blackheads, too.

The famed dermatologist uses a curette to clean out the sac and any remaining material. And she scoops out the gunk like miniature balls of ice cream with the rounded curette.

The growth is likely a blackhead, which is a single pore filled with dead skin cells and oil. This combination of material forms a black “head” when exposed to air. The lighter contents seen in this clip is actually the same material as the "head," only this skin and oil hasn't been exposed to air.
