Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Remove a Giant 'Sunflower Seed' Blackhead
In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper pops a big blackhead that looks like a crunchy sunflower seed.
Dr. Lee describes the growth as both "sticky and dry," which makes for a super satisfying removal.
The growth is actually a dilated pore of Winer, which is essentially a large blackhead compacted in a single enlarged pore.
It's snack time. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—pops a big blackhead that looks like a crunchy sunflower seed.
In the clip, Dr. Lee makes a nick into the dilated pore with a blade to give the compacted contents an avenue of escape. She then goes in with her trusty comedone extractor, giving the growth a firm press and pull. She describes the growth as both “sticky and dry”—and you can see exactly what she means as she pulls the gunk out.
Once removed, the growth is a similar coloring and size to a sunflower seed. And it leaves a giant crater in its wake. Many fans commented that the clip was particularly satisfying, with one fan calling it, “A nice little bloop.”
A blackhead of this size is commonly called a dilated pore of Winer. A dilated pore of Winer is essentially a large blackhead compacted in a single enlarged pore. This means the large crater left behind by this extraction is actually a single pore that has been stretched from the contents gathering inside.
