Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Pull Free a Record-Breaking Six Pound Lipoma
In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper removes a massive lipoma stuck to a woman’s back.
Once removed, the lipoma is weighed and comes in at more than six pounds.
A lipoma is a fatty noncancerous growth that develops between the skin and muscle.
Oh baby! In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—removes a massive lipoma stuck to a woman’s back. And this thing weighs as much as an infant.
In the clip, Dr. Lee makes a long incision down the length of the lipoma. She then snips some of the mass away from the skin, working her finger around the growth to lift and wiggle it free.
“I use my fingers to pill the lipoma and loosen it from deeper structures because this is less likely to shear blood vessels,” Dr. Lee explains in the clip.
Dr. Lee tells the patient she has to perfectly measure how much force she uses to pull the lipoma. Too much power could tear the lipoma and squirt the growth's juices around the operating room. Too little, however, won’t get the mass free. Luckily for this patient, Dr. Lee is an expert and pulls free the jiggly growth with relative ease. Once removed, the lipoma is weighed and comes in at more than six pounds—a new Dr. Pimple Popper record at the time of recording.
While many fans were quick to point out the growth was the weight of a literal newborn child, one fan went with the classic comparison of “marinated boneless chicken breast ready to grill.”
