• Whiteheads tend to form on the surface of the skin when a pore becomes clogged with oil and dead skin cells.

Sometimes the work of a great dermatologist can seem almost like magic: Problems that bother patients for years can disappear literally within seconds, leaving the patients stunned and lost for words. This is especially true in the latest season of Dr. Pimple Popper's TLC Show, and it's a point the doctor drives home in her latest Instagram post.

In the clip, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—goes to work on a large whitehead located behind a man's ear. As she writes in the post's caption, "Some dermatology magic for your afternoon on a whitehead that popped up behind the ear!" See for yourself:

Whiteheads, of course, are extremely common—about 80 percent of people will experience one at some point—and are usually found on the face and neck, according to MedicalNewsToday. They form when pores on those parts of the body become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. While Dr. Pimple Popper uses a comedone extractor to remove this one—which she links to along with the post—most people stick to gentler OTC treatments such as gentle lotions and creams that contain salicylic acid.

Season 3 of Dr. Pimple Popper airs Thursday nights at 8/9 central on TLC.
