Watch Daniel Radcliffe Star as Weird Al Yankovic in New Biopic Trailer

The official first trailer for Weird Al Yankovic's new biopic WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story has been released. Daniel Radcliffe has been cast as the titular comedian and musician.

According to the synopsis, the upcoming film follows the events of Yankovic's life, highlighting "his rise to fame in the music industry to his celebrity love affairs." The Hollywood Reporter shared a statement from Radcliffe about his role in the film, "Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don't take lightly, and I'm honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al's depraved and scandalous life."

Yankovic was very much involved with the bipoic, having penned the screenplay with Eric Appel. Appel directed the film as well as executive produced the feature, which will be exclusively made on The Roku Channel. Additional details revealed in the plot summary state that the film "holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like 'Eat It' and 'Like a Surgeon' to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time."

In a previous statement, Yankovic himself appeared excited for Radcliffe to take on the role, "I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for."
