The North Shore's Jamie O'Brien is one lucky guy.

A lifetime spent living right at Pipeline has allowed him to score Pipe on its most epic days. But every once in a while, O'Brien slips into a less-serious mode and has fun surfing the less-serious side of Pipeline.

In his latest vlog, J.O.B. surfs the Pipeline version of a novelty wave. Didn't know Pipe had one? Check it out below.

In the latest episode above, O'Brien scores a different version of firing Pipeline and surfs bombing backwash.

Opening the video, he says:

"You have no idea what's happening right now. We're gonna go check the backwash. It is so big, and so gnarly.

"The buoys are  twenty-three feet, seventeen seconds which is outrageous within itself.

"It's firing, we're absolutely gonna score. We got all the boys coming over."

The "boys" include Koa Smith, Nate Florence, skimboarder Blair Conklin, and "maybe" even 11-time world champ Kelly Slater.

"As good as backwash gets. It's a backwash day of dreams," O'Brien says. "Best I've seen it in ten years.

Smith  shows up and asks: "What's the goal here? Make it to the lineup?"

"That's up to you. You're gonna get to a certain point where you're gonna be like, 'If I keep going I might drown.' That's why we're wearing these life vests," O'brien says.

Eventually, Slater shows up and joins the fun.

Post session, O'Brien says:

"Literally been working my entire career to do something like this when it's this big."

One viewer suggested a new contest:

"I have heard of the Backdoor Shootout, but how about the Backwash Shootout?"
