When you think of decor for your house the last thing you are thinking about is something like a toolbox - or at least, I am pretty sure that is the case unless you are some sort of mechanic or something. And, before I saw this video from DixieBellePaint, I would have said that a metal toolbox couldn't be adorable - but I've been proven wrong and you get to see it for yourself right here!

So, how do you go from rust bucket to something you'd use to decorate your house?

The creator in this video starts off her project by power washing the entire metal toolbox, making sure that it is completely clean and free of all dirt, rust, and anything else that could mess up the surface or the paint she is going to lay down after that. There were even some stickers that had to have been removed, signs of this piece's life before it came into this woman's crafty hands.

Next she gives it a good buff out with a sander, then lays down a coat of primer to help hide any small imperfections left behind. After that she can finally paint it and I, for one, love this misty blue-grey color that she chose. It is a timeless yet vintage-y looking shade that I think would go so well with just about anything.

The final two steps include putting some cotton flower stencils on the larger surfaces, then painting the handles of the drawers, as well as the logo and lock, with a gold paint to give it that gilded look. Even the wheels are given the same treatment to help really tie the whole thing together.

And the end result is simply stunning - and it seems like the comment section agrees. So be on the lookout for some metal toolboxes and try your hand at something like this yourself!
