Chris Froome, 38, is one of those riders everyone seems to have a different opinion about. But we can all agree that his parody of the recent viral Bentley video, with his Factor bike, is amazing. One of the better versions of a string of other videos mimicking the odd original.

The Bentley video was uploaded to YouTube July 6th, 2023 by TikTok user JETCAR. It’s gotten over 4 million views. The woman taps on various parts of the car, revs the engine, and uses autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) to highlight the car’s features. Since then, all kinds of mocking videos have been created. A military Humvee, a Steyr tractor, a Tesla, and now Froome’s Factor Ostro V.A.M.

While the original Bentley video is a bit bizarre, the sound of Froome’s freehub and the snap as he secures his cleat into the pedal, are pretty nice. Maybe better than a Bentley?

And while the video is certainly funny and well executed, it’s also a bit of a message from the rider, about how he’s doing and what his sponsor relationships are like these days. Cycling Weekly reported that this video is as close as the Israel-Premier Tech rider has gotten to being in the spotlight this year, taking only 14th at the Mercan'Tour Classic Alpes-Maritimes — the best result he’s gotten recently.

Froome was reportedly pretty upset after not being selected for the Tour de France, which he partly blamed on equipment, possibly even the Factor bike featured in the humorous video.

Cycling Weekly surmised that perhaps this video “is a bit of a mea culpa for his criticisms in the past, to prove that it is all water under the bridge between the four-time Tour winner and his sponsors.” Regardless, it’s exactly what’s needed when what’s needed is a good laugh!
