We've been seeing a lot of Pipeline lately.

There Kelly Slater's surprising very first Pipe session of 2024, Carissa Moore shredding Pipe shortly after announcing her retirement from competitive surfing, and Jamie O'Brien surfing big, barreling Pipeline with over 100 people in the lineup.

Then there's the wipeouts. Pipe hospitalized Brazil's Joao Chianca, Tahiti's Eimeo Czermak, and Maui big wave surfer Kai Lenny who cracked his helmet like an egg. In the edit below, we're treated to a combo of wipeouts and perfect waves at Pipeline.

Oahu Surf Films captioned the edit above:

"Monday January 22nd The best of 2024 by far. The word is out. Monday morning Surfers from around O'ahu and Pros in town for the Lexus Pipeline Pro awoke to a perfect Big Pipeline.

"It doesn't get any better than this. I counted a total of 7 broken boards between 8-11 am. Sit back and grab some popcorn for the intro as no one was seriously hurt but lots of people paid their dues."

The video's about seven minutes of perfect Pipe featuring Shane Dorian, Italo Ferreira, Makana Pang, Eala Stewart, Koa Smith, Sheldon Paishon, Balaram Stack, and a bunch of other rippers.

One viewer was impressed by an unknown surfer and asked:

"2:30 Who the hell is this kid? He is ripping the shit out of the place this winter."

It turned out to be the North Shore's Makana Pang, who took second place in the 2023 Vans Pipe Masters.
