Watch: Blair Conklin Scores Pre Hilary 'Sand Slabs' and River Waves

Hurricane Hilary hit hard over the weekend, bringing record breaking rainfall to Southern California.

But the dream hurricane waves surfers hoped the first tropical storm in nearly a century would bring, didn't exactly happen. As Surfline's Marcus Sanders said, it was "a very mixed bag."

Laguna Beach soft-top surfer and skimboarder Blair Conklin had the right timing, because he beat the the storm to the surf. And before Hilary polluted the rivers with runoff, he found some glassy sand slabs and river waves.

Beefs T.V. posted the edit on its YouTube channel, captioning it:

"Scoring shallow sand slabs and glassy river wave before Hurricane Hilary hits the Southern California coast! Some boog POV, glassy river break and womp bodysurf action with Blair Conklin and Ricky Miller."

In the edit, he starts on a boogie board, aka "boog" as he called it above, and gets a few nice glassy waves.

Then a crew of people start digging out the river for a DIY wave. That's when the skimboards come out and they start ripping waves right at the river mouth.

Towards the end, there's even some hard core body surfing.

Read some of the viewer comments below:

"You know you’re in for a real treat when that fiesta music drops."

"Came for the beef stayed for the jello"

"Love the foreshadowing at the end. Can't wait to see what Hilary brought up there. Inspired stuff as always. I agree with Blair that you had some pretty sick rides here."

"gorgeous standing wave in that dug out river channel! I can't wait to see what the tail end of the storm brings."
