You can't win 'em all. Even when you surf as well as Maui's badass waterman Kai Lenny.

The guy does seem like a superhero, boosting barrel roles at Cloudbreak, towing in at Teahupo'o, helping people as a hometown hero, and all-around ripping on every type of board there is.

But Jaws, aka Pe'ahi, unleashed yesterday during the first huge swell of the season and Lenny had a good wipout. He owned it on social media.

Lenny posted the clip above last night and captioned it:

"It’s the ones that you don’t think you’ll make that are the best rides of your life. This time I didn’t make it, but you can’t win if you don’t play!"

The post starts off with footage taken from a jet ski of Lenny paddling into an enourmous right at Jaws. He goes down the line frontside and pulls in as the wave barrels.

But he doesn't make it out.

The clip then switches to POV footage, offering viewers a first-hand perspective of him paddling for the wave, standing up in the barrel, and then boom!

He's underwater.

In the end, Lenny's above water and throwing shaka at the camera.

He lives to surf another day.

Big wave heavyweights commented:

Shane Dorian: "Wow that was a wild ride"

Mark Healy: "👏"

Lucas Chumbo: "🔥🔥🔥"

Meanwhile, Olympic skier Julia Mancuso wrote:

"I was waiting for the tutorial on how to jump off your board."

Lenny replied: "I just try to stay standing as long as possible so hopefully I get shot out the back. Doesn’t work every time."
