Watch Beyoncé's Amazing Performance of "Be Alive" at the Oscars

Beyoncé just performed her original song "Be Alive" at the Oscars, and it. was. incredible. The song, which was written for the King Richard soundtrack and nominated for Best Original Song, was broadcast live from tennis courts in Compton, California—a fitting location considering it's where Venus and Serena Williams practiced the sport with their father, Richard Williams. And speaking of the Williams sisters, they introduced Bey when she kicked off the show. Check out clips of her amazing performance below:

Will Smith spoke to Entertainment Weekly about collaborating with Queen Bey on the song (which soundtrack King Richard’s closing credits), saying Beyoncé called him after watching a screening of the movie. “The marriage of a movie and a song is a kind of magic that’s unmatched in entertainment,” he explained. “I was so happy when Beyoncé called.”

Prior to Beyoncé's Oscars performance being confirmed, Variety reported that she was being extremely hush-hush about it, and that it was was "possible Beyoncé would abandon the concept entirely if any of her plans were to be revealed."

In addition to "Be Alive," nominated songs this year are “Dos Origuitas” from Encanto, “Down to Joy” from Belfast, “No Time to Die” from No Time to Die, and “Somehow You Do” from Four Good Days.
