Loved by some, loathed by others, the Surf Ranch Pro is nigh.

The World Surf League’s one-and-only landlocked, freshwater Championship Tour stop is coming this weekend (May 27th - 28th). And so, in anticipation, here’s a collection of the best waves ever ridden (in competition) at Kelly Slater’s wavepool.

Captioning the video, the WSL wrote:

“Featuring Gabriel Medina, Lakey Peterson, Filipe Toledo, Yago Dora, Carissa Moore, Johanne Defay, and Julian Wilson.

“Surf Ranch puts progression on full display. Surfing’s most unique arena churns out perfect waves that separate the tour’s most innovative surfers from the rest. This is the first event after the Mid-season Cut, meaning the field has been sharpened and the fight for the WSL Final 5 starts right here, right now.”

Additionally, they dropped this banger from John John Florence on social media:

So, who’s gonna take the win in the pool this year?

For the men, past winners have been all Brazilian – with two wins from Gabriel Medina, and one from Filipe Toledo. Those two have their wavepool game on lock.

On the women’s side, it’s been a little more varied – with Carissa Moore, Lakey Peterson, and Johanne Defay taking home the top trophy.

But maybe this year, things could be a little different. Could Italo inch out a win? Griffin? Kanoa? Could Kelly come out with some characteristic heroics after falling off tour, then being granted a season-long wildcard, and finally win the event at his “home” spot?

We’ll have to wait and see. The Surf Ranch Pro runs May 27th-28th.
