The countdown to Super Bowl Sunday is always exciting—there are game day snacks and desserts to prep, football-themed decorations to make, and at-home party games to play. One of our favorite pre-game traditions is also revisiting the best Super Bowl ads from past years.

Whether you're a huge football fan or someone who doesn't know the difference between a touchdown and touchback, a Super Bowl with well-crafted commercials is something everyone can cheer for. They're clever, memorable, and will make you laugh out loud (or weep into your nachos. See Google's 2020 spot "Loretta").

Here 12 of our favorite Super Bowl commercials of all time, beginning with the most recent.

Doritos "Cool Ranch Dude" (2020)

Lil Nas X and Sam Elliott meet on the dusty streets for an Old West showdown unlike any other in this hilarious Doritos ad set to the Grammy-winning song "Old Town Road."

Amazon "What Did We Do Before Alexa?" (2020)

Ellen DeGeneres ponders this question as she and wife Portia de Rossi get ready to leave the house. Funny flashbacks to ye olden times before the invention of Amazon's voice-activated virtual assistant ensue.

Tide "It's a Tide Ad" (2018)

Stranger Things star David Harbour makes the argument that, when you think about it, every commercial is a Tide commercial. Case in point.

Always "#LikeAGirl" (2015)

This ground-breaking commercial from Always, which encouraged viewers to rethink gender stereotypes and empower young women, went on to be viewed 80 million times across 150 countries.

Budweiser "Puppy Love" (2014)

While Budweiser won't have an ad in the game this year, the beer brand has created some of the most iconic commercials ever in the past. We love a buddy film, and none are sweeter than the BFF puppy and Clydesdale in this Super Bow XLVIII ad.

VW's "The Force" (2011)

When a pint-sized Darth Vader is having trouble summoning "The Force" VW's 2012 Passat saves the day.

Snickers "Betty White" (2010)

We're on board for pretty much anything Betty White does (read her best life advice to see why) including this hysterical Snicker's Super Bowl XLIV commercial.

Old Spice "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" (2010)

Okay, so this ad didn't actually air during Super Bowl XLIV. It was strategically released online just before the game and soon the commercial and its star, former NFL wide receiver Isaiah Mustafa, were a viral hit.

E*Trade Baby (2008)

This ad, which aired during Super Bowl XLIV, featured a talking baby who showed stock trading could be both easy and adorable.

Pepsi "Your Cheatin' Heart" (1996)

In this ad from Super Bowl XXX a Coca-Cola delivery man tries to sneak a Pepsi and the results are less than discreet. Hank Williams' "Your Cheatin' Heart" provides the perfect background music.

Budweiser "Singing Frogs" (1995)

This ad from Super Bowl XXIX instantly became one of the most talked about, spurring sequels and inspiring many a human to mimic the frogs' "Bud-WEIS-er" chorus.

McDonald's "The Showdown" (1993)

Basketball legends Michael Jordan and Larry Bird play for a Big Mac and fries in this two-part Super Bowl XXVII ad. Fun fact: the commercial's famous "No dunking," line was improvised.
