Watch: The Best Padang Swell of the Indonesia Season (So Far)
Bali's Padang Padang is one of the world's dreamiest tubes.
It's also one of the most crowded.
When it's breaking, 100s of surfers are out and vying for position, with only a handful of Bali's (very deserving) locals snagging the sets. The rest of the pack is left searching for scraps.
After a long slumber with very little action at Bali's best wave this season, Padang finally showed its teeth last weekend. While the swell still wasn't quite big enough to run the 20th Anniversary of the Rip Curl Padang Cup, there were plenty of tubes for the expression session, with guys Taj Burrow, Mason Ho, Clay Marzo, and Koa Smith packing drainers alongside the OG Bali locals. With 21 days remaining in the waiting period, hopefully this is just a taste of what's to come when the comp gets called on.
