Constance Howard impressed 'The Voice' judges!

Monday night is the final night of Blind Auditions on The Voice, and the teams are almost full, making it almost impossible for an artist to get a four-chair turn. But 27-year-old Constance Howard from Katy, Texas was one of the lucky ones to land a place on a team. She managed a two-chair turn for her startling rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Peaches.”

Camila Cabello was the first to turn, followed by John Legend, but Gwen Stefani was the first coach to speak.

“Constance that was so cool,” the No Doubt lead singer tells her. “Honestly, it was so creative and different. You have so many incredible places in your voice. Are you doing music outside of this? You’ve got to be because it sounds like you would be an artist that’s signed already.”

Constance explains to Gwen that she started off in choir, saying, “I was a really shy student, and my parents really motivated me to get into the studio and do more stage performances at school, so it’s been a journey.”

Gwen then turns Constance over to Camila and John to battle it out.

“I have one more spot left on my team, and I have been really careful about who I pick for this last spot,” Camila says. “There’s nobody else like you on my team. I’ve been looking for somebody like you that has that character, voice, that distinctiveness. You started off really shy, right?”

“Yes, my choir teacher, she’s the one who got me into hitting high notes,” Constance says. “I didn’t know I could hit them. She was, ‘You can go further, just keep pushing yourself.’”

Camila continues “That’s the power of a good teacher. That really resonates with me because I used to be so shy when I was younger.”

Neither John nor Gwen believes that. John says, “What?” and Gwen chimes in with, “Shut up! Liar!”

But Camila goes on, “I never liked to sing in front of people. I was so, so shy. The first time I sang in front of people was on a singing competition show. I have come such a long way from that. Clearly, Blake Shelton begs me to shut up in front of this crowd all the time.”

Blake butts in with, “At this moment…”

Camila picks up on that, saying, “In this moment, he’s like ‘When is she going to stop talking?’ I really love the tone of your voice. I really love working with artists like you that have a different quality of voice. That’s just something that God gave you, so I would love to be your coach and I’m a pop girl. But I’m a pop girl with some swag.”

Constance says, “I do think that, yes.”

Then Camila throws down the glove by way of a challenge, “Beat that, John.”

John starts by saying, “I feel like we’ve heard a lot about Camila…”

And Blake can’t resist, commenting, “Oh, burn.”

Then John gets serious, “In some ways you reminded me of Rihanna because Rihanna does an effective job of bringing Caribbean and African influences into pop music. You just have such a special voice and then your chest voice is so different from those whistle notes you’re doing. I don’t know if you listen to Minnie Ripperton...”

“I love Minnie Ripperton,” Constance said.

“Well, she was like the queen of the soulful whistle notes back in the day,” John points out. “And you’ll be able to take any song like you just took this Justin Bieber song and made it your own. I feel the fun part of working with you would be finding other songs that you could take and just transform them. Every coach on here could say, ‘I don’t have anyone on my team like you’ because you don’t sound like anybody else on the show. I don’t know if I have ever heard anybody that sounded exactly like you do, and I would love to work with you, help you pick songs, help you channel that into a really successful time on this show.”

Then Blake explained why he didn’t turn, saying, “I’m sorry I didn’t hit my button, but I only have one spot left. You hit a couple of notes in that song that defies science. I was temporarily paralyzed from those notes. It’s like my ears never heard anything that high before. But also, when I saw these two turn around, I was like…”

Camila interrupts, “You were thinking Constance should go with Camila.”

Blake joked, “That’s what I was thinking. It’s a match made in heaven.”

John wasn’t done fighting, adding, “We would make a great pair. I would love to work with you.” Then to Camila, who he could tell wasn’t done talking, he says, “Go ahead Camila. Last word me.”

And she did! “You know what? We’re down to the wire. I have one spot left on my team and I feel like it’s you. If we were on a dating app for The Voice, I would swipe right, and you would swipe right.”

The Minnie Ripperton connection wasn't enough for John to land Constance on his team. Instead, Constance chose pop swag and joined Team Camila.

Tune in to The Voice tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT for the first night on the Battle Rounds.
