2023 WAS AN incredible year for movies. Standouts included Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Priscilla. And toward the tail end of the year we even had a few last-minute films worth mentioning like Saltburn and The Holdovers. Whether you loved them all, or only have a few you're rooting for, the films of 2023 had everyone talking. And that means it'll be an incredible awards season.
While the Oscars and Emmys take the cake for the most prestigious of awards, there's a number of other awards leading up to those two major events that give viewers and critics an idea of what films might be poised to get Oscar nominations and potentially win. The Golden Globes are one such award show, and typically serve as the first (televised) ceremony of the year.
With categories for both television shows and movies, there's a lot to root for. The final season of Succession is up for its last year of awards (and the show is known for sweeping many of the categories it's nominated for in awards shows). The Bear and Only Murders in the Building have an uphill battle to win up against the likes of other stellar comedies like Barry, Abbott Elementary, and Ted Lasso. Suffice to say, if you watch television, there's probably a show you're hoping will win, especially because it could be a clue into which programs will snag Emmys.
