The Tony Awards are back! The 75th anniversary show will take place Sunday, June 12, airing live from New York City's Radio City Music Hall. Hosted by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, who made her Broadway debut in Bring It On: The Musical in 2011 and was nominated for a Tony for her performance as Donna in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, the show will no doubt to be a Broadway spectacular.
DeBose's mom Gina, her partner Sue Makkoo and her best friend Jonathan Cobrda will all be in attendance to cheer her on. "Miss Gina will be there! My best friend, Jonathan Cobrda, my prom date, goes to everything. My partner will be in the house as well. She has designed the costumes for the opening number," DeBose told People."She's a very talented costume designer. I'm excited for her work to be seen on stage."
The evening will feature performances by Tony Award-nominated musicals, including A Strange Loop, Company, Girl From the North Country, MJ, Mr. Saturday Night, Music Man, Paradise Square, and SIX. There will also be a special reunion performance by the original cast members of the 2007 Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening—who recently reunited for a one-night-only concert special, Spring Awakening: Those You've Known.
Tony nominee John-Andrew Morrison of A Strange Loop told Town & Country at the 2022 Tony nominee luncheon that he cannot wait to perform with his show, and be "part of those iconic Tony moments that live on repeat on my YouTube."
The line-up of presenters is full of Hollywood and Broadway stars—including Jessica Chastain, Cynthia Erivo, Andrew Garfield, Tony Shalhoub, and Adrienne Warren, among others.
