How to Watch the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards is soon entering its 39th annual celebration. Come this weekend, you can tune in to the 2022 ceremony to discover all the winning artists of our favorite hit music, the wildest looks and performances, and the latest likely swarm of meme-worthy celebrity moments—all in real-time from home.

This year, the star-studded event will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and rappers Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, and Jack Harlow are set to host the ceremony.

Artists expected to take home awards include Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X (again), who lead the pack of nominees with a total of seven nominations each. Close behind them are Doja Cat and Harry Styles, who both received six nominations, including those for Video of the Year for their respective hit singles "Woman" and "As It Was."

Taylor Swift also nabbed a Video of the Year nomination for her "All Too Well" short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien from her rerecorded 2012 album, Red (Taylor's Version), which dropped in November 2021. And "About Damn Time" singer Lizzo joins Harlow, Styles, and Nas X in the nomination for Artist of the Year.

To top things off, this year's MTV VMAs is bringing back its prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award—the arguably highest honor recognizing an artist's profound impact on music and culture—after a two-year hiatus. Minaj has been named the honoree of this year, making her the first recipient of the award since fellow female rapper Missy Elliott in 2019.
