Washington Ski Resort Announces Installation Of Towers For New Chairlift

Alpental, a sub-resort of the Summit At Snoqualmie, Washington, announced the installation of towers for the upgraded Sessel Triple yesterday, September 18th.

The following Instagram post details ongoing construction efforts.

From the caption:

"The crew flew, set, and bolted down the towers for the new Sessel triple today. One giant step closer to loading you this winter!Huge shoutout to everyone on our construction and lift crew 🙌. Today was another massive fly day with concrete pours on International Chair as well. There's a lot of orchestration, hustle, and methodical work that goes into making these pivotal days go well. We're thankful to have amazing people out there on the mountain making it happen."

The pre-upgrade Sessel was one of Alpental's oldest chairlifts, providing access to a small beginner terrain network. Post-upgrade, it will become a Doppelmayr fixed-grip triple that "will be realigned and extended to create longer, more interesting intermediate descents and provide quick access to the future International Chair," per Alpental's website describing the project.

Alpental intends to open the Sessel Triple this upcoming ski season.

This isn't the only lift construction project underway at the Washington-based resort. Alpental is laying the groundwork for replacing the beloved Edelweiss two-seater with a triple and constructing the brand-new International three-seater.

The Edelweiss upgrade and the new International Chair are slated to open during the 2024-2025 ski season.

Alpental skiers, you get it. These improvements were a long time coming.

While Alpental is known for unique terrain offerings (I've heard it called the "Dr. Seuss of ski resorts") and legendary backcountry access, its limited lift infrastructure can lead to backups on storm days. With the completion of Alpental's new lifts, the resort will be better prepared to tackle the influx of new skiers in the Seattle area.
